Incheon Airport to Seoul 2026: AREX vs Airport Bus vs Taxi (Prices, Time & First-Timer Tips)
Hello from Korea! 🍂
October is one of the best months to visit Seoul. The air is cool, the sky is clear, and the autumn leaves are just starting to turn.
Here's the short answer first:
Going to Seoul Station or on a tight schedule? Take the AREX Express train.
Lots of luggage and a hotel in Myeongdong or Gangnam? Take the limousine bus.
Three or four people, or landing late at night? A taxi makes the most sense.
Incheon Airport sits on an island about 60 km west of central Seoul, so choosing the right ride can save you a lot of time and money. Let's break it down.
■ Quick Comparison
[TABLE] Option | Price (adult) | Time | Best for
AREX Express | ₩13,000 | 43–51 min | Seoul Station, KTX transfers
AREX All-Stop | ₩4,750–5,350 | 59–66 min | Budget, Hongdae
Limousine Bus | ₩17,000–18,000 | 60–90 min | Heavy luggage, hotel areas
Taxi | ₩65,000–85,000 | 60–80 min | Groups, late arrivals
■ 1. AREX Express Train 🚄 (Fastest)
The Express runs non-stop from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to Seoul Station. From T1 it takes 43 minutes. From T2 it takes 51 minutes.
The official adult fare is ₩13,000, and children (6–12) pay ₩9,500.
You get a reserved seat, space for luggage, and no traffic to worry about.
The first train leaves the airport around 5:15 AM and the last one around 10:40 PM.
💡 Tip: Travel sites like Klook, KKday and Creatrip often sell Express tickets for less than the station price, around ₩11,000–11,600. Buy before you fly and just scan the QR code.
💡 Tip: The Express ticket only covers the trip to Seoul Station. If you continue by subway, you'll pay that fare separately.
■ 2. AREX All-Stop Train 🚇 (Cheapest)
Same line, but it stops at every station, including Gimpo Airport, Hongdae (Hongik Univ.), Gongdeok and Digital Media City.
To Seoul Station it costs ₩4,750 from T1 and ₩5,350 from T2.
It takes about 59 minutes from T1 and 66 minutes from T2.
You can pay with a T-money card, just like the regular subway.
💡 Tip: Staying in Hongdae? The All-Stop train is actually better than the Express. Hongdae is on the way, and the Express doesn't stop there.
💡 Tip: Older blogs may say ₩4,150. That's out of date. Fares went up.
■ 3. Airport Limousine Bus 🚌 (Easiest with Luggage)
Your suitcase goes under the bus, you sit down, and you get dropped off near major hotels. No stairs, no transfers.
A standard deluxe bus costs ₩17,000. The premium K-Limousine costs ₩18,000.
Expect 60–90 minutes depending on traffic.
Popular routes:
6015 → Myeongdong (near L7 Myeongdong, Royal Hotel, Ibis, etc.)
6005 / 6701 / 6702 → Seoul Station & downtown
💡 Tip: At Terminal 2, you must buy your ticket before boarding. Get it at the ticket booth or kiosk in the arrivals hall. Booths accept cash, major credit cards and T-money.
💡 Tip: Search your hotel name + "airport bus" before you fly. Many hotels list the exact bus number and stop.
■ 4. Taxi 🚕 (Door to Door)
The taxi stand is right outside the arrivals hall.
A regular taxi to central Seoul costs about ₩65,000–85,000 including highway tolls.
Rough fares:
Hongdae ₩55,000–65,000
Myeongdong ₩65,000–75,000
Watch out for night surcharges:
10 PM–11 PM: +20%
11 PM–2 AM: +40%
2 AM–4 AM: +20%
Taxi types:
Deluxe (black) taxis cost 40–50% more than regular ones. Jumbo taxis seat up to 8 at the same price as deluxe. International taxis cost about 20% more, but drivers speak English, Japanese or Chinese.
💡 Tip: For 3–4 people, a taxi split four ways is close to the bus price. And you go straight to your door.
💡 Tip: Apps like Kakao T show the estimated fare before you ride, so you know roughly what to expect.
■ Which One Should You Take?
Seoul Station, Myeongdong (by subway), or catching a KTX → AREX Express
Hongdae or a tight budget → AREX All-Stop
Gangnam, Jamsil, or 2+ big suitcases → Limousine Bus
Groups of 3–4, kids, or landing after 11 PM → Taxi
■ First-Timer Checklist ✅
Get a T-money card at a convenience store in the arrivals hall. You'll use it for the subway and buses all trip.
Set up your eSIM or pick up your SIM card before you leave the airport.
Check your terminal (T1 or T2). Travel times and fares are different.
Save your hotel address in Korean. Taxi drivers will thank you.
