■ 1. Seoul Silver Grass Festival 🌾 (Top Pick)
This is Seoul's signature autumn festival.
It runs from October 17 (Sat) to October 23 (Fri), 10 AM to 9 PM every day, at Haneul Park in World Cup Park.
Entry is free.
Haneul Park was once a landfill. Today, the top of the hill is covered in a sea of silver grass, with the Seoul skyline in the background. Expect photo zones, hands-on activities like making silver grass bouquets, and evening lighting shows.
How to get there:
Take Subway Line 6 to World Cup Stadium Station or Mapo-gu Office Station. From there it's about a 40-minute walk, or you can ride the small electric shuttle from Nanjicheon Park parking lot.
💡 Tip: Go about an hour before sunset. You'll see the grass glowing gold, then the lights come on after dark.
💡 Tip: The hill has a lot of stairs. Wear comfortable shoes.
■ 2. Hangang Festival – Autumn 🏃 (Along the Han River)
From October 17 to 25, events take place on the river and across 11 Hangang parks.
This season's theme is "run, eat and rest," with the "I Can Do Festival" covering exercise, food and relaxation.
It's a great way to see how locals spend their weekends. Grab some convenience store ramen, sit by the river and enjoy the sunset.
💡 Tip: Popular programs often need online booking. Check the official Seoul festival site (festival.seoul.go.kr) for each park's schedule.
■ 3. Seoul Design Week 🎨 (DDP)
Seoul Design Week runs from October 14 to 25 at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) and other spots around the city.
Highlights include the DDP Design Fair, featuring popular Korean lifestyle brands, plus exhibitions by Korean and international designers.
The DDP Design Fair ticket is ₩15,000. Many other programs and outdoor areas around DDP are free to look around.
💡 Tip: DDP is next to Dongdaemun market. Combine it with late-night shopping.
■ 4. Nowon Moonlight Walk 🌙 (Night Lights)
From October 16 to November 8, Danghyeoncheon Stream in Nowon becomes an outdoor gallery of light sculptures.
It's a calm, local-feeling evening walk, far from the tourist crowds.
💡 Tip: This one runs into November, so it's perfect if you're visiting late in the season.
■ 5. More Weekend Picks 🎉
Sagak Sagak Autumn Festival (Oct 17)
A one-day autumn event at Jamsil Hangang Park. Easy to pair with Lotte World Tower.
Gangdong Prehistoric Culture Festival (Oct 16–18)
Held near the Amsa-dong Prehistoric Settlement Site. Fun for families, with hands-on Stone Age activities.
Grand Mint Festival (Oct 17–18)
One of Korea's biggest autumn music festivals, held at Olympic Park. Tickets are required.
■ Festival Tips for Visitors ✅
Go on weekdays if you can. Weekends get very crowded, especially at Haneul Park.
Use the subway. Parking near festival sites is limited and traffic is slow.
Bring a light jacket. October evenings can feel chilly by the river.
Carry a T-money card and a little cash for food stalls.
Check the official sites before you go. Schedules can change because of weather.
